Class Of 2012 Senior Portrait Guide { Kansas City Senior Portrait Photographer}

Congratulations Class of 2012!

You’ve almost made it and when you walk through those doors again in September you will be a SENIOR! Sassy Chic Photography has created THE SENIOR PORTRAIT GUIDE to assist you through this very important event in your life... your Senior portraits. This invaluable guide contains information that will let you know what to expect, answer questions and help you with what questions to ask. Feel free to check out Sassy Chic photography http://www.sassychicphotography.com for more helpful info.

FREE Pre-Portrait Consultations

These complimentary, no obligation get-togethers are a great way to find out what Sassy Chic Photography is all about. Tour the studio, inside and out, discuss your likes and dislikes, hobbies and interests. We’ll explore clothing options and share ideas to create a session that truly reflects you. Most importantly, you will be relaxed, familiar and comfortable, knowing what a Sassy Chic Senior session is all about. This consult guarantees that you will get the best results.

Portrait Options to fit every Budget!
We’ve worked hard to create a huge variety to satisfy EVERYONE’s needs. It’s all up to you! YOU CHOOSE! From A La Carte Portraits, to Packages to Collections with Bonuses there is something at Sassy Chic Photography that is perfect for you! We have the tools and guides to help you make the ordering process easy, enjoyable and fun!

Plan Ahead
Think about who you are, what’s important to you and what you want to express in your Senior portraits. What’s your passion? Sports, music, hunting, computers, a favorite pet, or do you just think you deserve a variety of great images and special effects? Call us for ideas, or research our galleries online. Look at the different poses and backgrounds, and get inspired! Also think about what portraits you need for your family, friends, graduation, or for gifts for the coming year. And don’t forget yourself!

Clothing Colors
Solid colors photograph best, but bring along stripes, solids and prints for some variety as well. Black looks good on everyone. Bring a variety of colors for the myriad of backgrounds and sets. Greens, browns, burgundy, navy, teal, and fuchsia photograph especially great. Choose colors that compliment your skin tone.

PROPS
Props define what you are all about; your
and hobbies. A friend, pet, your car, motorcycle, sports equipment, uniforms, trophies, books, instrument, hunting gear, computers, or siblings are always favorites. We’ll capture it all in a special way, and you’ll never pay extra.

HAIR Avoid radically changing your hair before your session. Haircuts should be done a week before your session to look their best. If you color your hair, don’t forget your roots. Highlights should be touched up 2 weeks prior to your appointment. Quick, hair changes during your session are great, but make it easy and fast or you lose valuable camera time.
MAKE UP
Rule of thumb, go with your normal daytime look to start with- you can always add a little more when you get to the studio, but it’s hard to take off and have to start over. Be especially careful when applying eyeliner and mascara – the camera magnifies clumps and heavy-handed applications if it is not applied perfectly. Summer shine can be controlled by using translucent powder that knocks out shine without adding color.
TANNING
DO NOT over-do the tanning bed or sun.A three day rest from tanning is definitely recommended before your session.
FREE Retouching!
Images come with Basic Retouching, so don’t worry about blemishes, under eye circles or stray hairs. They won’t exist after we work our magic! We also offer more extensive retouching including brace removal and more, for an additional fee.

Yearbook Photos

Yearbook photos are due when you get back to school in September in most cases. Your yearbook advisor should mail or give you a “spec sheet” with all the information for your school’s yearbook requirements. Be assured that we have all local school’s specs. Most yearbook images are sent electronically, however there may be some
exceptions. Here at Sassy Chic Photography we will send your yearbook images directly to the school so that you don’t have to worry about it.

Guide to Great Engagement Portraits { sassy Chic Photography, Kansas city Wedding Photographer}

With so many people getting engaged this time of year, I thought it might be helpful to share some tips on how to make the most of your engagement session. Being a list maker at heart, I decided to share 10 useful tips with you:

(1) Choose a location that is meaningful to you. - a place that has significance to you and your fiance is always going to be better than a random park. The place you met, the place he proposed, or your home town square are all great options.

(2) Choose a location that is unique. - if you can’t think of a location with significance, the next best thing is a place that is unique.

(3) Avoid wearing the same colors as your fiance. - we’ve all seen photos of two people, both wearing black shirts that end up looking like a two headed black blob. It’s MUCH more visually appealing if you and your fiance coordinate instead of match. If you’re not sure of the difference, ask your photographer for suggestions. Chances are they can help!

(4) Wear Cute Shoes. - Cute shoes are always a good idea, but especially for engagement photos. Everyone loves a cute “shoe shot” so why not make the most of it and dress your feet accordingly. I’ve also mentioned this because this is a really good excuse to print this out and say “Look honey!! It says I should buy new shoes for our engagement photos! ” You’re welcome

(5) Think about having your e-pics done in a season opposite that of your wedding date. - If you’re getting married in the summer, you might like to have some photos of you and your fiance in the fall or winter. Having photos of the two of you in a variety of seasons will be good for decorating your home.

(6) Dress for the weather. - going right along with reason #5, if you are having e-pics taken in January make the most of it with a cute coat and winter accessories. If you’re having them done in August, skip the long sleeves even if your most favorite shirt is a wool sweater. It’s super important that you are comfortable because if you’re not it will show in the photos.

(7) Consider an activity. - if there is an activity you and your fiance really enjoy doing together, consider incorporating that into your engagement shoot. Do you both love baseball? Have some of the pics done on a baseball diamond. Are you both foodies? E-pics of the two of you whipping up something delicious would be adorable! Much like location, an activity can really help to personalize your photos.

(8) Bring Props. - No I don’t mean bring your couch to the shoot! Going along with #7 if you both love to read, bring some books. If you’re both head-over-heels for your dog, bring it along!

(9) Choose a photographer that you are comfortable being around. - this one is huge. If you don’t feel comfortable with your photographer it will show in your photos. In the current age of blogs, Facebook and Twitter make it a habit of reading your photographer’s blog and friend them on Facebook. This way by the time your engagement shoot rolls around you will feel like old friends!

(10) Be yourself! - this is the most important thing to remember. If you are a fashionista who follows the latest trends, then no matter what anyone says wear your trendy duds. If you live in jeans, then rock your denim in your photos. These photos are about you and your fiance so let that shine through!
